February 2025 Update

It’s been a development-heavy month, but we’ve kept the community in the loop by showcasing several exciting new features in various stages of progress. Let’s dive into everything that happened in February!

Early Access – More Features Unveiled!

Moonfrost is fast approaching Early Access in Spring 2025, and to build excitement, we launched a brand-new livestream series: ‘The Road to Early Access’. Hosted by Jase (Marketing & Community Lead), this biweekly series gives players an exclusive look at the game’s latest developments.

Episode One : Fishing & Features

  • First two fishing prototypes showcased

  • Crafting 2.0 update

  • Early look at the Collection Album

  • Introduction to the Cooking system

Episode Two : Fishing, Orders & AMA

  • Prototype four of the fishing live gameplay

  • Improved server stability & hosting sites

  • Introduction of Orders, a new gameplay system

  • Live AMA with the community

Fishing Updates – Catching The Perfect Mechanic

Fishing has been a major focus for the team. We’ve built four different prototypes to refine and try to make the perfect fishing experience. Instead of cloning the genre favourite fishing minigames (Stardew Valley’s fishing design is in so many games), we wanted to make something truly unique to Moonfrost that fully embraces our bespoke 2D-3D pixel art style.

Reminder: Players who complete the main story tasks in Alpha Release 5 will unlock an exclusive Fishing Gnome Blueprint—a permanent, account-bound reward that will never be available again, and gives you access to Fishing in the current alpha release!

Collection Album – Track Your Progress

We showcased an early Work-in-Progress (WIP) version of the Collection Album, which lets players track everything they’ve unlocked, crafted, and gathered in Moonfrost. But it’s more than just a tracker — it plays a role in long-term progression, unlocking special rewards when certain collections are completed.

Cooking – A System Built for Discovery

We’re designing a cooking system that encourages player discoverability. If you’ve played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the experience will feel familiar, but still bespoke to Moonfrost! While it’s still in early development, we’ve shared the full design document on Discord for those eager to get a sneak peek at what’s coming.

Orders – A New Gameplay System

A major new addition that helps balances the economy while rewarding players!

What are Orders?

Orders are a revised task system that gives players more meaningful rewards in exchange for fulfilling requests for crops, food, fish, and more.

Rewards include:

  1. Craftcoin - Traditional (hard currency)

  2. SIL - Traditional (soft currency)

  3. SHARDs - Hybrid

  4. [Redacted]

Two Types of Orders:

  1. Special Orders (replacing daily tasks) – Earn Craftcoin

  2. Standard Orders (new addition) – Earn SIL

New NPC – Meet Ronen!

We’re improving The Village, and this month, we introduced Ronen—a charismatic new NPC. You’ll likely find him at The Frosty Moon Pub, either working or… well, doing Ronen things. And yes, we saw your questions in chat—is he dateable? Let’s just say… he’s on our development feature list. 😉💕
